Dr Gwilym Morris is a cardiologist and cardiac electrophysiologist specialising in the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders. He performs a large number of cardiac ablations each year, with particular expertise in atrial fibrillation (AF) including pulsed field ablation (PFA). Treatment is tailored to each patient and may include medication, catheter ablation, pacemaker implantation or defibrillator implantation.

Pulsed field ablation (PFA) is an advanced form of catheter ablation that uses brief electrical pulses, rather than heat or freezing, to treat the heart tissue responsible for abnormal rhythms. It is now an important treatment option for many patients with atrial fibrillation and can also be used for selected other complex heart rhythm disorders.
Dr Gwilym Morris was one of the first cardiac electrophysiologists in Australia to adopt PFA and now performs a large number of PFA procedures each year. He trains cardiologists from Australia and overseas in the technique and leads a PFA centre of excellence for training in Newcastle. He was also among the first to integrate PFA with advanced cardiac mapping and continues to use the most up to date treatment and safety innovations in the field as they become available.
